“America’s Got Talent” honors young contestant after sudden death

LOS ANGELES – The hit NBC competition show “America’s Got Talent” released a tribute to Emily Gold after the young contestant suddenly died following an appearance on the show.

Gold, 17, performed with the Los Osos High School dance team on America’s Got Talent. After making it through the auditions, the group reached the quarterfinals of the series before being eliminated in August.

“The AGT family extends its deepest condolences to Emily Gold’s family, friends and team members. She was a bright young soul and will be greatly missed,” the TV show said in a post on Facebook.

According to the San Bernardino Coroner’s Office told People Magazine, Gold committed suicide on the evening of September 13.

Her dance team also released a statement on its Instagram page following the tragedy.

“Emily always embodied every aspect of our core team values through her strength, dedication, kindness, compassion and human heart,” they wrote in the post. “She will be remembered by her teammates as a leader, role model, friend and sister.”

Family and friends have started a GoFundMe campaign to support Gold’s loved ones.

“Let’s come together as a community and support the Gold family during this difficult time. Please know that this money will go directly to the family to support them and help with expenses,” the GoFundMe post said.
