Amazon Kindle Scribe drops by almost $100 in limited-time Prime Day deal

Books are great, but they can take up a lot of space. That’s why a Kindle Scribe is a great alternative for traveling or just lounging around at home. Just in time for Prime Day, Amazon has reduced the sale price of a 10.2-inch Kindle Scribe by a whopping 25%. That means you get the device instead of paying $340 for $255. With this $95 discount, we’re just $15 away from our lowest price ever, so it’s well worth considering.

CNET’s David Carnoy noted that the Kindle Scribe “strikes a very good balance between a large-format e-reader and an e-ink notepad.” It features a 10.2-inch front-lit e-ink touchscreen with 300 pixels per inch and adjustable warm light and can provide several weeks of battery life on a single charge. It’s the largest Kindle on the market, but still weighs just under a pound. While that certainly makes it portable, you’ll probably want to invest in a case that can double as a stand – which you’ll need to buy separately.

This story is part of Amazon Prime DayCNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.

Hey, did you know? CNET Deals Texts are free, easy, and save you money.

This model comes with a standard pen that magnetically attaches to the side of your Scribe and requires no power or Bluetooth connection, so you never have to charge it. The high-end pen essentially works like a regular pencil — it even has a built-in eraser — and features a programmable button. You can use the pen to mark up PDFs and easily send these documents to the device itself. However, note that you cannot mark Kindle eBooks or DRM-free ePub eBooks. Essentially, you add “sticky notes” to anything other than a PDF.
