With It ends with us will be a box office hit this weekend thanks to Colleen Hoover’s huge fan base, as well as fans of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. The impact of a book adaptation on the big screen will definitely be there to see.

Several other well-known books have been adapted for the big screen this year, including comics such as The Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesChildhood stories like Harold and the purple crayon and more.

Stories from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – August 9 – Paramount+

The latest animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie stars: Michah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr. and Ayo Edebiri. It is based on the comics by Jason Aaron, Ronda Pattison and Joëlle Jones.

The Crow – 23 August – Theatre

Bill Skarsgård, FKA Twigs and Danny Huston play the leading roles in The Crow based on the novel by James O’Barr.

Ugly – September 13 – Netflix

Finally, the Ugly The film based on the first book in the science fiction series by Scott Westerfield, starring Joey King, Chase Stokes and Keith Powers, will be released on Netflix on September 13th.

Evil – 22 November – Theatre

Jon Chu’s interpretation of the The Wizard of Oz The prequel story is based on the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire. The film stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum and others. Evil will be in theaters on November 22nd.

The film, starring Anthony Hopkins in the role of Sir Nicholas Winton, is based on Barbara Winton’s book A Life: The True Story of Sir Nicholas Winton.

Henry Cavill, Hero Fiennes Tiffin and others played the leading roles in the adaptation of Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The explosive true story of the Second World War Special Forces desperados by Damien Lewis.

Turtles all the way down – Max

John Green’s novel Turtles all the way down was made into a film some time ago and Max finally released the film directly to streaming this year. Isabela Merced plays Aza Holmes and Felix Mallard Davis. Cree plays Aza’s best friend Daisy, Poorna Jagannathan plays Dr. Kira Singh and J Smith-Cameron plays Professor Abbott.

Jeff Nichols’ latest film is based on the photo book by Danny Lyon.

The animated film, which follows Amanda and her imaginary friend Rudger, is based on the book by AF Harrold and illustrated by Emily Gravett. The film comes from Studio Ponce, an offshoot of Studio Ghibli.

Harold and the purple crayon – Theatre

Crockett Johnson’s Harold and the purple crayon was adapted into a feature film starring Zachary Levi, Lil Rel Howery, Benjamin Bottani, Zooey Deschanel, Tanya Reynolds, and Jemaine Clement, among others. The film’s narrator is Alfred Molina.
