Head coach of the UMBC women’s basketball team Candice Hill has announced the hiring of Sophie Albano-Alisberg as Director of Basketball Operations.

For the past two seasons, she has served as director of basketball operations at Utah Valley.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of UMBC women’s basketball and the basketball culture that Coach Candice is creating,” said Albano-Alisberg.

Albano-Alisberg has worked in both college and professional basketball for a time, including a guest appearance with the NBA during the NBA restart (the bubble) in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, in 2020.

She worked as a team support staff member during the NBA bubble and served as a statistical analyst with the league in Secaucus, New Jersey, during the 2020–21 NBA season.
Albano-Alisberg served as director of basketball operations for the High Point University women’s basketball program during the 2018-19 season and as operations coordinator at Brown University the year before.

While an undergraduate at High Point from 2013 to 2017, she worked as a senior team manager for the basketball program. Albano-Alisberg graduated from High Point in 2017 with a degree in human relations and a minor in sports management.

During the summer of 2016 and 2017, she was also part of USA Basketball’s support team in Colorado Springs, working on team tryouts for the U16-U19 teams.
