The No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide narrowly avoided consecutive defeats with a 27-25 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday.

Crimson Tide starting quarterback Jalen Milroe completed 16 of 23 passes for 209 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions, while also rushing for two touchdowns.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer expressed relief after the game that the team was able to “find a way to win.”

“There are just so many times we talk about finding a way to win,” DeBoer said in a postgame press conference. “The ball didn’t go our way. But when you find a way to win when your back is against the wall, like the last drive there, then I’m proud of those guys.”

The Gamecocks (3-3) entered Tuscaloosa, Ala., coming off a huge loss to No. 9 Ole Miss, while Alabama (5-1) suffered a devastating loss to unranked Vanderbilt. had to accept.

Both teams were looking for redemption this weekend and Alabama found it, no matter what it looked like.

Alabama trailed 19-14 early in the fourth quarter before outscoring the Gamecocks 13-6 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

The Crimson Tide will face No. 8 seed Tennessee next Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
