A’ja Wilson was criticized for supporting Bam Adebayo at a special ceremony

All summer, rumors have been circulating about a possible relationship between Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson and Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo.

Neither Wilson nor Adebayo have confirmed these rumors, but since they have been seen teasing each other on social media, secretly shaking hands after Wilson won a gold medal with the U.S. team at the Paris Olympics, and appearing in photos together that look like they are on a date, fans are convinced that the romance between these two basketball icons is a poorly kept secret at this point.

And that metaphorical fire was fueled even further Wednesday morning when X aired a segment in which Adebayo (and a handful of other local Olympians) were presented with the key to Miami-Dade County.

Local reporter Will Manso posted a video of Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava speaking about Adebayo during the ceremony, saying, “Last but greatest, Bam Adebayo. And I didn’t say team gold medal before!”

In exchange for the key, Adebayo then gave Cava a signed jersey.

Later during the ceremony, Cava said, “Yes, A’ja Wilson, and she won gold in women’s basketball.”

The broadcast then panned to Wilson, who was sitting in the crowd.

Cava continued, “I guess this has something to do with Bam and the Heat, right? That I’m here today.”

Wilson is then seen shrugging embarrassedly and then laughing at the mayor’s words.

When they saw that Wilson (who was sitting with Adebayo’s family) was there to support the Heat superstar – and then was confronted by the mayor for it – fans were convinced that the relationship between the two gold medalists on the U.S. team had finally become public.

While Wilson and Adebayo have not yet fully confirmed their relationship, the mayor of Miami-Dade County just did so for her.
