Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson can add another accolade to her legendary career. The two-time WNBA champion has been named the Most Valuable Player of the women’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Wilson helped the U.S. national team to a thrilling victory over France in the final, securing the United States’ eighth consecutive gold medal.

“It’s unbelievable,” Wilson said after the win. “We really built a dynasty here at USAB and it was incredible. And I’m so proud of the resilience my team showed. We could have messed it up many times, but we did it. I’m so blessed to be able to say I won gold medals twice.”

Wilson scored 21 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in the 67-66 win and averaged 18.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in six games at the Olympics.

In addition to being named MVP of the tournament, she was named to the All-Star Five for women’s basketball at the Paris Olympic Games. alongside teammate Breanna Stewart, Gabby Williams from France, Alanna Smith from Australia and Emma Meesseman from Belgium.

The eight consecutive gold medals ended a tie with the American men’s team, which won seven in a row from 1936 to 1968. The women’s victory came less than 24 hours after the U.S. men’s team won. also defeated France in the title game. This was the first time in Olympic history that the same two teams competed in both gold medal games.
