After the sale of Killington Resort, VT, POWDR also wants to sell 3 more resorts
POWDR wants to sell Mount Bachelor, OR.

In addition to the sale of Killington Resort and Pico Mountain in Vermont announced today, Stuart Winchester of Storm Skiing Journal and Podcast also exclusively revealed that POWDR is looking to sell Mount Bachelor, OR, Eldora, CO and SilverStar, BC.

POWDR officials told Winchester that “other mountain ski companies are welcome to submit bids for the three resorts” and that they expect the sales to be completed “over the next few weeks.”

POWDR owns and operates ten ski resorts across North America and intends to continue operating the other six properties in its portfolio. Sales are “driven by the desire to focus and diversify the business.”

To date, the following resorts have been owned and operated by POWDR:

  • Boreal Ski Area, California
  • Copper Mountain Resort, Colorado
  • Eldora Mountain Resort, Colorado
  • Gorgoza Tubing Park, Utah
  • Killington, Vermont
  • Mount Bachelor, Oregon
  • Pico Mountain, Vermont
  • SilverStar Resort, Canada
  • Soda Springs Ski Resort, California
  • Woodward Park City, Utah

Only time will tell who will buy the other three resorts. Although Park City Mountain Resort, UT, was controversially lost to Vail Resorts in 2014, officials told Winchester there was “no ongoing animosity.” Will the resorts, like Killington, pass into the hands of local investors, or will Vail and Alterra buy them out to add to their ever-growing portfolios?
