After seven goals, Thuram is not interested in Capocannoniere’s crown, Bastoni is worried about blackouts at Inter

Marcus Thuram insists he has “no interest” in fighting for the Capocannoniere crown after his first hat-trick, while Alessandro Bastoni admits Inter cannot explain their defensive “blackouts”.

The France international took center stage at the San Siro this evening, scoring a hat-trick to give his team a 3-2 win over 10-man Torino.

There were two headers – both from crosses from the left – and he was ready to grab the rebound after an attempt was parried by Lautaro Martinez.

Despite the fact that Guillermo Maripan was sent off in 20th placeTh A minute in after a tackle on Thuram’s ankle, Torino held on with Duvan Zapata’s goal and a penalty from Nikola Vlasic, making for a nervous evening for the reigning champions.

“I hadn’t scored a goal for two or three games, the important thing is that the team wins, but when I score I’m even happier,” Thuram told Sky Sport Italia.

He scored his only previous hat-trick in Europe’s top competitions on July 31, 2022 for Borussia Mönchengladbach against Oberachern in the DFB Cup.

“Every game in Serie A is difficult, we have a big squad with three or four new signings who have come to help us and we hope we do well.”

Lautaro Martinez was capocannoniere in Serie A last season. So does Thuram want to challenge his strike partner for the crown?

“I’m not interested in that, the most important thing is that Inter gets three points.”

Thuram scores for Inter, but Bastoni is worried about the goal

Although Inter are always capable of finding the net, their defensive prowess appears to have been lost compared to last season, conceding nine goals in just seven rounds of Serie A.

Did Torino’s reduction to 10 men make them feel like it was going to be easy?

“Especially after the 2-0 lead, we thought and hoped that things would go downhill, but we still managed to bring home an important win,” Bastoni told Sky Sport Italia after providing two assists.

“I honestly don’t know why we have these little blackouts, maybe it’s more difficult when you play so often. If we skip the games for the last half hour we could save some energy, so we should get better at that.

“Our strength last season was not to underestimate any test, and we have to repeat that this time too.”
