After her denigration of Tom Brady, “Someday You’ll Die” star Nikki Glaser has her eye on an “SNL” appearance

Nikki Glaser was nominated for her first Emmy in July for her HBO special One day you will die. That day, she told Deadline that she was thrilled with the success of that show as well as her breakthrough performance on The greatest roast of all time: Tom Brady, in three things: working with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, sitting in a VIP box at a Taylor Swift show and hosting SNL.

Less than a month later, the latter appears to be the case.

Glaser, speaking at Deadline’s Contenders Television: The Nominees event, said there is “interest” in NBC’s late-night show. “I think I would give it a blast,” she said.

Glaser, who has been in comedy for more than 20 years, knows she has to seize this moment. She was one of the stars of Netflix’s biggest live event ever, and her stand-up special has broken records for HBO and Max.

“I’ve just been working so hard on the special and the roast and I really need a break, but there’s so much attention on me that more stuff is coming in and you have to strike while the iron is hot, and so have I,” she said.

The timing Nikki Glaser: One day you will die was spectacular and came less than a week after the Brady Roast, where she was undoubtedly the rising star and took aim at the NFL icon with her classic roast versions.

“I wish I could say I planned it that way, because I wish I had that much foresight and attention to detail in my career,” Glaser said. “I wish I was a little more like Taylor Swift and planned things out. It was pure coincidence, and honestly the special got postponed because I was just having so much trouble with the editing, and it was such a laborious process.”

Guy Harding was nominated for Outstanding Variety Editing for his work on the special.

Recorded in December in front of a sold-out audience at the Moore Theater in Seattle, One day you will die In “The 40 Fingers,” Glaser deals with a wide range of topics, including why she doesn’t want children, the harsh reality of growing older, her sexual fantasies and her own death plans.

Glaser takes on Billy Joel’s The 100th – Live at Madison Square GardenDave Chappelle’s The dreamerDick Van Dyke 98 years of magic and Trevor Noah’s Where was I in the category Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) at this year’s Emmys.

“I couldn’t ask for a better group of people and it feels great to be the only woman there,” she said. “There are fewer female comedians than male comedians. We all know that. It’s just a cool feeling to be nominated. That line really rings true. Whether I win or not, I just say, ‘I’m nominated for an Emmy,’ and that’s really what you want.”
