Adam Sandler is Homer Simpson in the concept trailer for the live-action film “The Simpsons”

The Simpsons has always been animated, and now a concept trailer has given a glimpse of what a live-action adaptation could look like. Created with the help of AI, the concept trailer brings together an all-star cast to imagine the film, including comedy icon Adam Sandler as the patriarch of the Simpson family.

The trailer was posted to YouTube by Multiverse of AI and features a voice narration by Adam Sandler, generated by an artificial intelligence, introducing the actor as Homer Simpson, who introduces the rest of his family. Other cast members featured in the video include Kristen Wiig as Marge Simpson, Jacob Tremblay as Bart Simpson and Mckenna Grace as Lisa Simpson. You can watch the full trailer below.

In addition to the family, the concept trailer also introduces several other Springfield characters in live-action films with well-known actors in the roles. These include Will Ferrell as Ned Flanders, Simon Pegg as Lenny Leonard, Jordan Peele as Carl Carlson, Steve Buscemi as Mr. Burns, Neil Patrick Harris as Smithers, Ben Stiller as Moe, John C. Reilly as Barney Gumble, Zach Galifianakis as Chief Clancy Wiggum, Steve Carell as Principal Seymour Skinner, Kumail Nanjiani as Apu, Gaten Matarazzo as Milhouse Van Houten, Danny McBride as Otto Mann, Bill Hader as Reverend Lovejoy and Keegan Michael Key as Dr. Julius Hibbert.

Will there ever be a live-action Simpsons movie?

In fact, there are currently no known plans to take the franchise into live-action territory, although the animated series is still going strong. The show’s 36th season will debut on Fox this fall, as the series remains just as popular as ever. It’s also possible that a second animated film will be made soon, as this was teased prior to the release of Inside Out 2 that the potential success of the Disney and Pixar film could help The Simpsons Movie 2 green light. Inside Out 2 has since become the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

“I think it is a bigger problem than The Simpsonsco-showrunner Al Jean told Screen Rant. “On several levels, we really hope Inside Out 2 to have a great success this summer. I want the animation business to fully return to what it was before the pandemic. And then, I think if that were the case, it would make sense to show The Simpsons in theaters. But I understand that the question of ‘Where would you release it? And how would you release it?’ is hanging over me.”

Jean added: “And we stream with the short films and other stuff on Disney+, so I love watching animated films in the cinema. I loved The Boy and the Heron who just won the Oscar, I’ll always watch the Miyazaki films that come out. So I’m really all for animation being completely theatrical, so I hope it goes in that direction.”

Classic episodes of The Simpsons are streamed on Disney+.
