According to the report, Souther had concert dates scheduled for this fall, and he performed just five days ago.

Souther, an inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, wrote and recorded songs with the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt. Souther had two major hits as a solo artist: “You’re Only Lonely” and “Her Town Too,” a duet he released with friend James Taylor.

He helped write some of the Eagles’ biggest hits, such as “New Kid in Town” and “Best of My Love,” and had a long solo career that included the Top 10 hit “You’re Only Lonely.”
