Ace Flagg goes home

Basketball twins are almost always interesting. The first important people we know of were Tom and Dick Van Arsdale. More recently we’ve seen the Grants (Horace and Harvey), the Morrises (Markieff and Marcus), the Diaz Graham twins in Pitt (Guillermo and Jorge), the Cavender twins in Miami, and of course the Boozer twins Cameron and Cayden . who recently chose Duke.

They are more like fraternal twins than identical and their talents are different. Cameron is a big guy and Cayden is a point guard.

And of course, like the Boozers, Cooper Flagg and his brother Ace are fraternal twins and their life paths were quite different.

Cooper had been considered a rising star for some time, while Ace was not as highly regarded. However, he is a promising basketball player himself. And on Tuesday, he announced his own college decision, saying he would return to Maine.

And that’s kind of cool. To be sure, he had other options. He could have gone to a more prestigious program like West Virginia, Richmond, Florida Gulf Coast, St. Joe’s and George Washington.

But he likes the idea of going home. We know his grandparents still live in the area and he undoubtedly has many friends on campus. It gives him a great chance to reconnect and help Maine build something special. And all in all, this is a pretty good option.
