Aaron Rodgers slams ‘ridiculous’ NFL referees after Jets’ loss to Bills

Aaron Rodgers lashed out at the NFL referees on Monday night following the New York Jets’ loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The refereeing team, led by referee Adrian Hill, awarded 22 penalties during the game – the highest number of penalties ever awarded in a game this season.

To add insult to injury, the two teams combined for an incredible 204 yards in penalties, with Rodgers’ Jets being turned away 11 times for 110 yards in their first game without fired head coach Robert Saleh.

The 40-year-old pulled no punches as he troubled Hill and his team over the barrage of penalties that constantly slowed the momentum and pace of the game, prompting fans to brand the game “unwatchable”.

“It seemed a little ridiculous,” the quarterback said after the 23-20 loss at MetLife Stadium.

Bills edge rusher AJ Epenesa was called for unnecessary roughness on the veteran, which gave New York a first down, while Jets defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was called for roughness on the passer.

Although Rodgers had one of the penalties in his favor, he hit both, making his point with a nod to “South Park.”

“Some of them seemed really bad, including the rough attack on me by the passer,” the four-time MVP said.

“This isn’t a rough attack on the passer.” We might as well be playing Sarcastaball, if we want to call it that. I also thought the attack on Kinlaw was not a rough attack on the passerby.”

“Sarcastaball” is a reference to a season 16 episode of “South Park” that featured a segment criticizing the NFL’s leadership.

It was the Jets’ first game since firing head coach Robert Saleh, but their season went from bad to worse under new interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.

New York reached the red zone four times, converted only once and scored just 20 points in its fourth loss of the season.

And Rodgers wasn’t afraid to launch an amazing attack on his own team.

“It was a golden opportunity.” Some games you win in the NFL, some you give away. “That was a gift,” he said.

“We were terrible in the red zone. “We missed two field goals, we didn’t score in a two-minute drive.

“We had a lot of chances. We had the momentum. “We had good offense, we moved the ball up and down the field, so it’s disappointing.”
