Aaron Rodgers admits he ‘needs to play better’ as the Jets are crushed by the Steelers in their fourth straight loss

After the New York Jets suffered their fourth straight loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Aaron Rodgers is taking more personal responsibility than he did after last week’s loss.

Rodgers said he needs to “play better” as New York’s season appears to be winding down.

Sunday night’s 37-15 loss was also the Jets’ first game since taking over for Davante Adams and second game since firing former head coach Robert Saleh.

After last Monday’s loss to Buffalo, Rodgers expressed excessive criticism of his teammate Mike Williams. Six days later his tone had changed.

“I have to play better.” That’s the key. I have to play better. Find a way to make the ball move better so we can actually pass. I thought the passing game did some nice things. Breece obviously had some really nice specimens. Distribute the ball around Tae, G and Allen. “Mike had a nice execution, but we were able to run the ball better and I was able to play better,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers also said that stopping listening to the media would also help the team. When asked what outside noise the jets would have to block out, the 40-year-old answered “everything.”

“And it starts with me.” The energy, for whatever reason, was a little low at halftime. I also had the feeling before the game that it was flat. So I’ve been able to look at myself and what I can do to generate more energy, but we’ve all gotten better,” Rodgers continued.

Because of Rodgers’ age, the Jets have a tremendous winning mentality.

Not many other teams in NFL history have bet their franchises on a player in his fifth decade without prior results for their franchise.

The Jets are 2-5 against the Patriots next week and need a win.

New England is just one of three NFL teams with the league’s worst win streak in seven weeks.
