Aaron Jones leaves the game in London with a hip injury and is doubtful to return

Due to a hip injury, it is questionable whether Vikings running back Aaron Jones will return to Sunday’s game against the Jets in London.

Jones had 29 rushing yards and 24 yards receiving early in the contest before leaving the game in the second quarter. On the NFL Network broadcast, he was shown hobbling on the sidelines with a worried look on his face. Sideline reporter Stacey Dales announced it was a hip injury and a questionable return for the Vikings star.

Without Jones, the Vikings have relied on Ty Chandler, Myles Gaskin and fullback CJ Ham in their backfield. All three touched the ball on a second-quarter drive that Ham capped with his sixth career touchdown and gave Minnesota a 17-0 lead.

Jones, who signed a one-year contract this offseason after seven seasons with the Packers, was outstanding in the Vikings’ 4-0 start. But there were always concerns about the potential for injury for a player who turns 30 in December and missed some time last year.

This story will be updated as more details regarding Jones’ status become available. We’ll see if he can return to the game or if he retires at some point. Speculatively, it’s possible the Vikings exercise caution with their starting RB if this game continues to be a bust.
