Here’s a look at sporting events in the Milwaukee area and elsewhere in Wisconsin for the week of August 26.

Squad cuts

When: Tuesday, 3 p.m.

What you should know: NFL teams must reduce their rosters from 90 to 53.

San Francisco to Milwaukee

When: Tuesday, 7:10 p.m., Wednesday, 7:10 p.m., Thursday, 1:10 p.m. (all televised on Bally Sports Wisconsin)

What you should know: Maybe the Brewers will get lucky and not have to face one of the most dominant starting pitchers, left-hander Blake Snell from San Francisco, in the second half.

Milwaukee-Cincinnati

When: 11:40 a.m. (BSWis and MLBN) and 5:40 p.m. Friday (BSWis), 6:15 p.m. Saturday (Fox), 11:10 a.m. Sunday (BSWis)

What you should know: Anything can happen in the ballroom at Great American Ball Park, and it usually does. The Brewers open with a doubleheader and will need to pitch well in this series.

West Michigan in Wisconsin

When: Friday, 8 p.m. (FS1)

What you should know: The Badgers, coming off a 7-6 season under new coach Luke Fickell, open the season against a Broncos team that went 4-8 last season.

WISCONSIN BADGERS VOLLEYBALL

When: Sunday and Monday (September 2nd) at the Fiserv Forum.

Schedule: UW vs. Texas, Sunday 11:30 a.m. (Fox); Minnesota vs. Stanford, Sunday 2 p.m. (FS1); UW vs. Stanford, Monday 4 p.m. (Fox); Minnesota vs. Texas, Monday 6:30 p.m. (FS1).

What you should know: The Badgers, whose season ended with a loss to Texas in the national semifinals, will seek revenge when they face the Longhorns in the first game of the event in Milwaukee.

MOTORSPORT

Crandon Off Road World Championships

When: Thursday-Sunday

What you should know: The Wisconsin Northwoods have been home to the largest professional and amateur short-course off-road racing event for trucks, buggies and side-by-sides since 1970.

IndyCar weekend at the Milwaukee Mile

When: Milwaukee Hy-Vee 250s, Saturday at 5:05 p.m. (Peacock) and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (USA, Peacock).

What you should know: The open-wheel cars, so important to the history of the racetrack, are returning for two 250-mile races after an eight-year absence.

First games of the season: Tuesday for cross country, boys soccer, volleyball; Thursday-Friday for 8-player soccer
