A gruesome photo emerges of Robert Whittaker’s dislocated jaw and lost teeth following his brutal defeat to Khamzat Chimaev

Robert Whittaker suffered what is believed to be a dislocated jaw in his UFC 308 co-feature loss to Khamzat Chimaev.

The former middleweight champion was going for a tight face crank submission in the opening round when a loud bang was heard from the side of the cage.

Whittaker wasn’t feeling well after the loss and shared a photo of his gruesome injury with UFC color commentator Daniel Cormier, which was then shown to the cameras by DC.

“Khamzat Chimaev broke his tooth,” Cormier said of the photo.

“Literally dislocated his jaw in two seconds. It was incredible.”

In the picture you can see that three of Whittaker’s teeth in the bottom row are severely displaced, which explains why the Australian tapped so quickly.

Meanwhile, Chimaev said he felt Whittaker’s jaw open as soon as he locked in the submission.

“Before I came in here, they showed me (the picture),” Chimaev said in his post-fight press conference.

“I felt like there was something wrong with his chin when I pushed on it, so I’m sorry.”

“I didn’t mean to break anyone’s jaw, but it’s my job to cause someone pain.

“And make me and my family happy. I felt it when I pressed it and it clicked.”

Whittaker came into the bout ranked No. 3 at 185 pounds and Chimaev is now expected to take his spot when the ratings are updated Monday morning.

The other two fighters ahead of him (Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland) have already been beaten by champion Dricus du Plessis, so Chimaev could be next in line for the title.

And that’s exactly what he demanded immediately afterwards.

“I’m going for the belt, I love my brother (Whittaker), you’re a legend,” Chimaev said after the fight.
