DENVER – On Monday we set a record high temperature of 82 degrees at Denver International Airport. We hope you enjoyed the heat of late October, because in the next few days it will finally feel and look more like fall (and winter).

A storm will move across the highlands by Wednesday, bringing rain to the valleys and snow to higher elevations.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for most of Colorado’s mountains through midday Wednesday for 6 to 12 inches of new snow above 9,000 feet.

Look for a strong cold front to drop temperatures into the upper 60s in Denver on Tuesday. There will also be scattered showers around the Front Range Tuesday afternoon and evening. So far, it looks like this storm could bring a slushy rain/snow mix to the Denver metro area early Wednesday.

Little to no snow accumulation is expected for the urban corridor and plains, but travel in the mountains could be treacherous Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Temperatures will be bitterly cold in the city on Wednesday as the storm slowly moves across the state. Blow out your sprinklers now! A freeze advisory is in effect for a widespread hard freeze along the Interstate 25 corridor from 10 p.m. Wednesday through 9 a.m. Thursday. Temperatures will drop from 22 to 28 degrees overnight.

Our trick-or-treat forecast looks nice and dry, but Thursday will be cool with highs in the mid 50s. It will be a mild start to November with highs in the upper 60s Friday afternoon.
