A 15-year-old was arrested in a double shooting in Port St. Lucie, according to police

Port St. Lucie police arrested a 15-year-old Fort Pierce male after responding to a vehicle accident in the 2600 block of South Blackwell Drive just before midnight Tuesday.

While they were tending to the victims, a tan Chevrolet crashed into a mailbox near the crime scene. Police attempted to stop the driver, but the Chevrolet then crashed into a ditch. The 15-year-old driver was arrested.

During the investigation, police learned that the two victims met with the 15-year-old to sell him a THC vape cartridge for $80. At some point during the transaction, the 15-year-old shot the man and woman with a handgun. The victims drove away and then crashed.

The 17-year-old has non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at a local hospital. The 16-year-old is in critical condition and is taken to a local hospital.

The 15-year-old was charged with attempted murder in commission of a felony, robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm under the age of 18.

The investigation is ongoing, but police believe there is no threat to the community.
