Boy bought 25 large fries to test what he could win at McDonald’s Monopoly

Over the years, McDonald’s Monopoly has become a fixture in British culture.

The annual promotion offers customers the chance to win a whole range of prizes, from a free cheeseburger to a whopping £100,000 in cash.

But while instant wins – often items from the Maccies menu – are plentiful, it’s much harder to get your hands on the deceptive Monopoly features that lead to a jackpot prize.

With the competition back in British restaurants today (September 4), the question is: what does it take to win big? One young boy decided to try it out for himself.

Last year, Josh Ryan – who started a McDonald’s Monopoly series on TikTok – spent almost £65 on 25 portions of large fries and received 50 Monopoly stickers in return.

In a video uploaded to the platform, he wrote: “I’m buying 25 large fries to see how much I can win! I can’t believe how much I won!!”

Josh got off to a pretty good start when he pulled out a 40 percent discount code for Skull Candy headphones from his first order of fries.

His second prize also came from his second portion: he won a “personalized photo magnet.”

And the third sticker was another prize with a 10 percent discount code for AO.com.

However, the small instant prizes were the most common in Josh’s haul: the content creator scooped up several free McFlurrys or fruit bags, six McNuggets, a bacon roll and a hot drink of his choice.

Unfortunately, he was unable to scoop the coveted £100,000, but the TikToker was not too disappointed.

“French fries are the most important thing,” he insisted.

But his fight for fame at McDonald’s Monopoly was not over yet.

In another video, Josh teamed up with another TikToker to see what you could win by spending even more money at the fast food restaurant.

The caption read: “This is part three of spending money on McDonalds Monopoly to see what we win and today I spent £75, the amount is rising.”

His co-host joked: “We should win £100,000 now, right?”

But he probably had even better luck on his second attempt, as the couple only managed to bag two bags of McFlurry or fruit (again), one bag of apple pie or fruit, and a small bag of chips or vegetables, although I don’t understand why you would ever choose vegetables over chips.

The cult game officially returned to the UK today (September 4) and is set to run until October 15.
