LSU football score vs USC: Live updates from Las Vegas | LSU

The LSU football team didn’t fly to Las Vegas this weekend to have a little fun and maybe lose a few dollars at the Bellagio.

At least according to Will Campbell, the Tigers are on their way to Sin City to fight.

“We know what we’re here for. We’re not here to go to Caesars Palace,” Campbell said. “And everyone in this building knows that.”

LSU opens its season on Sunday against USC at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The matchup marks the start of coach Brian Kelly’s third season as the Tigers look to end a four-game home losing streak.

This is only the third time LSU and USC have faced each other on the football field. The last meeting was in 1984, when the Tigers defeated the Trojans 23-3 at the Coliseum. But the first game between the two teams at Tiger Stadium in 1979 was won by USC, overcoming a 12-3 deficit in the fourth quarter to win 17-12.

Here are live score updates from LSU’s big season opener against the Trojans.

FINAL SCORE: USC 27, LSU 20

After trailing 17-13, the Trojans went on a 14-3 run in the fourth quarter to hand LSU its fifth consecutive loss in Week 1.

The Tigers lead 17:13 with 8:38 minutes to go.

LSU forces a turnover after Jones deflects Moss’ pass into the air. Weeks nearly intercepts the pass. The Tigers have the ball at their own 21-yard line after Major Burns is whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct.

On third and six, Whit Weeks makes a tackle that loses a USC run to the right. The Trojans try fourth and ninth at the LSU 36-yard line.

Correction: Womack is not injured and is back in the game.

Nussmeier’s throw to Josh Williams is perfect, but Williams is tackled just before the post, so LSU has to punt the ball. Todd punts the ball to USC’s 15-yard line.
