Widening of Belmont Ridge Road in Loudoun County almost completed

ASHBURN, VA – A widening project on a section of Belmont Ridge Road in Loudoun County is nearly complete, but some work may continue until December.

Belmont Ridge Road, one of the county’s main north-south routes, has been widened between Truro Parish Drive and Croson Lane. The two-lane rural road is now a four-lane suburban road with a median and shared-use paths on both sides for pedestrians and cyclists.

According to the county, northbound and southbound lanes on Belmont Ridge Road and most intersections are open, including the intersections of Croson Lane, Cochrans Lock Drive, Alford Road, Reservoir Ridge Place, Mount Hope Road, Waxpool Road, Truro Parish and Black Angus Drive. The shared-use path between Parish Road (Tillet Park) and Croson Lane (Brambleton Park) is also open.

The district expects to be able to announce a formal opening ceremony for the project in the coming weeks.

Motorists should expect brief lane closures on weekdays through December. When roadworks require lane closures, this will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday. Motorists are asked to exercise caution in this area and follow the directions of signage and roadworkers.

The project was funded by Loudoun County, the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority and the state’s revenue sharing program through VDOT.
