Pensacola Food Truck Court planned for Ensley, North Palafox Street

A local couple is working to create a new grab-and-go food center with four food trucks and a drive-thru cafe at the northwest corner of North Palafox and Hannah Streets.

Crystal and Arley George are the owners of the project and told the News Journal that they want to create the “Running on Faith Lot” so that the property can better serve the immediate community by offering residents more dining options, such as hibachi.

The proposed site currently has a building and parking lot that the owners hope to convert to suit their vision. If the project is approved, the existing building will be converted to accommodate the cafe, while the parking lot will provide space for the mobile food trucks.

The food trucks will each rent a 20’x30′ lot, which will also have seating, including picnic tables, but there are no plans for a public restroom. They have been negotiating with some local food trucks for the lot and their plans are awaiting project approval.

“I think it will be something good for people’s lunches too, since they have so much choice,” Crystal said. “We don’t want everything to be the same, that was one of our goals. We wanted a lot of choice and not to feed anyone the same food.”

According to Crystal, the menu will likely include hibachi, chicken and waffles, barbecue, and pastries and desserts. She also told the News Journal that the cafe will likely be called Bean Redeemed Coffee Shop and will be family-run.

This development proposal has not yet been approved by the Escambia County Development Review Board, but the project owners are still working with them to finalize the plans. This proposal was submitted to the County on August 14.
