Layne Riggs dislocates his shoulder while celebrating his first truck win in Milwaukee

The odds of Layne Riggs winning the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series LiUNA! 175 at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday are greater than zero.

Riggs, who drives for Front Row Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, had just earned his first win in the series after holding off some of the series’ best at short tracks, Ty Majeski and Christian Eckes.

The 22-year-old driver had gotten out of his truck to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moment with the crowd in West Allis, Wisconsin. He decided to climb onto the roof of the No. 38 Zorn Compressor Ford F-150 and jump up and down with his fist clenched.

In the midst of his celebration, Riggs, in severe pain, grabbed his shoulder and hugged it tightly to his body as he waved for help from his Front Row Motorsports team. As it turned out, the driver from Bahama, North Carolina, had dislocated his shoulder and his team had to pull on his arm to put it back in place – which they did in front of cheering fans.

“Yeah, I dislocated my shoulder, I was celebrating so hard,” Riggs said in Victory Lane after the event. “It hurts, but it was worth it. It’s not the first time this has happened to me, but it’s not going to slow me down.”

With his victory on Sunday, Riggs also joined his father in winning the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, making them the second father-son duo to do so, after Bob and Brad Keselowski. Layne’s father, Scott Riggs, has five wins in the Truck Series, the last in 2001 at Chicago Motor Speedway.
