As work on the KU football stadium continues, a street adjacent to the stadium will be closed to most traffic until mid-January 2025.

Starting Monday, August 26, contractors will close a quarter-mile stretch of Fambrough Drive (West 11th Street) between Missouri and Mississippi Streets for work related to the stadium project.

“During the closure, marking crews will be on site to ensure that KU buses and construction traffic can continue to use this road,” says a traffic report from the City of Lawrence.

All other traffic must follow detours via Mississippi Street or Missouri Street to Ninth Street, according to the city.

The city expects the closure to be lifted in mid-January, subject to weather or other delays.

The red pin on this map points to Fambrough Drive, approximately halfway through the closed section.
