The TV series “Witch Mountain” receives a disappointing update from Bryce Dallas Howard

Witch Mountainthe Disney+ remake of the classic science fiction title, has not been spared from the streaming provider’s budget cuts. The series, which is based on the novel and the film series, Escape to Witch Mountainshould play the main role Bryce Dallas Howard and even shot a pilot episode. Unfortunately, according to Howard, it will not lead to a series. Howard revealed the news during a panel at Fan Expo Canada in Toronto, moderated by Collider’s Maggie LovittWhen Howard was asked about the status of the show, she delivered the bad news. She said:



“It’s not happening, which is disappointing. It was a really great groove and we all really enjoyed shooting here in Toronto. Some things make it and some things don’t, and that’s the unfortunate truth of this industry.”

In the series, Howard was to play the role of Audrey, whose teenage daughter Tia (Isabel Gravitt, The Guardian) begins to show strange mental abilities. What is “Escape to Witch Mountain”?


Based on the 1968 novel by Alexander Key, Escape to Witch Mountain was first filmed in 1975. The main role was played by Ike Isenmann (Star Trek: II: The Wrath of Khan) and future Real housewifeKim Richards as Tony and Tia, two teenage aliens trying to escape from a paranormal-obsessed millionaire (Ray Milland) and with the help of a grumpy widower (Eddie Albert). The film was a huge success and grossed $20 million at the box office. A sequel followed in 1978: Return from Witch Mountainin which Tony and Tia competed against each other Bette Davis And Christopher Leeand a sequel produced for television, Beyond the Witch Mountain.


Disney remade the first film as an ABC television movie in 1995, with a pre-mad MenElizabeth Moss as one of the alien teenagers. The franchise returned to theaters in 2009 with The race to Witch Mountainby Dwayne Johnson as a taxi driver in Las Vegas and Carla Gugino as an astrophysicist who meets a pair of alien teenagers (AnnaSophia Robb And Alexander Ludwig) on the run from a sinister government agent (Ciaran Hinds); Isenmann and Richards made cameo appearances in the film. Reviews were mixed, but the film grossed $106 million at the box office on a $54 million budget.

Despite the cancellation of Witch MountainHoward is very busy both in front of and behind the camera. She is directing episodes of the new star Wars series Skeleton Crewwhich is due to be released later this year, and will star in the action comedy Deep Cover with Orlando Bloom.
