Anuj Thakkar is a Tesla Cybertruck owner and was recently a victim of car theft. Following the incident, Anuj shared a brief description of the event and a video captured by his Cybertruck’s Sentry camera.

Anuj writes, “There was no alarm, no notifications on my phone… literally nothing happened. I just found it like that… This can’t be true. Does anyone know why there is no alarm system?”

The video Anuj shared was shot on his phone. He records the footage of the guard, which plays on the central screen of his Cybertruck, and appears to show it to a police officer.

In Anuj’s video, a red sedan can be seen pulling up next to his parked Cybertruck. The two attackers, one in the driver’s seat and the other in the passenger seat, stop briefly to see if there are any valuables left in the truck.

The passenger in the red sedan exits the car, takes a closer look through the Cybertruck’s window, and returns to his car.

A few seconds later, the burglar returns with what appears to be a glass-breaking tool and walks to the window on the driver’s side of the Cybertruck.

Anuj comments on the Sentry footage by saying that the burglar is “looking to see if there’s anything in there.”

The burglar immediately puts his glass breaking tool to the windows and smashes the driver’s side window. Analyzing the footage, the officer can be heard saying, “It’s a tool that the thief pushes in from the side. Look at the top. He rips it open… there you have it.”

Here you can see the attacker grabbing the broken glass pane from above and pulling it down so that the window remains fully open.

After rolling down the windows, the burglar climbs into the Cybertruck. At one point, half of his body is inside the Cybertruck and his feet dangle high above the ground.

After attempting to reach an object on the passenger side, the burglar emerges with a large backpack, returns to the red sedan and drives away.

But as the burglars tried to leave the scene, their car stopped and you could see that they panicked for a few seconds.

According to one commentator, the theory is: “The perpetrators’ car is probably stolen. You can see the engine is stalling and they are trying to figure out how to get it running again. The ignition was probably turned on.”

After some struggle, the burglars get their vehicle running again and drive off. When looking at the Sentry footage, you can see that the red sedan has no license plate in the front and from behind, Anuj stops the Sentry video. However, he says that “the car is going too fast to see a license plate.”

The whole incident is unfortunate and can happen to any vehicle, but looking at the comments, people were surprised that the Cybertruck’s windows shattered so easily.

According to Tesla, the Cybertruck features special “shatter-resistant” glass. During the Cybertruck delivery, Elon Musk explained that the Cybertruck’s windows are designed to withstand a “70 mph Basell strike” or a Class 4 hailstorm.

However, despite Tesla’s claims about the strength of the Cybertruck’s glass, we’ve seen that the vehicle’s windows shatter quite easily.

The owner of a Cybertruck even recently recounted: “24 hours after he picked up his Cybertruck, his wife waved her hands and smashed the windshield with her wedding ring.”
