Wetherspoon’s “bans customers from charging their mobile phones behind the bar”

Next time you’re in Wetherspoon’s and your phone is out of juice, don’t expect much sympathy from the bar staff.

The nationwide pub chain has begun banning customers from charging their phones behind the bar.

According to Wetherspoon’s, while it is ultimately the pub manager’s job to show leniency, too many customers have taken advantage of this.

A spokesman said: “The bar itself is full and we don’t want people’s phones there.

“We also don’t want people to have to keep bringing their phones to the bar to recharge.

“If people want to charge their phone in the pub, that is at the discretion of the manager.”

An unnamed manager said he even saw players unplug the slot machines to charge their cell phones.

He said: “People wanted to charge their phones all day, and then all it takes is one of our employees to drop the phone and we get sued.”

“We’ve had people tell us our charger broke their phone and caused a lot of trouble.

“People should get into the habit of carrying a charger for their phone with them at all times because they go crazy when the battery runs out.”

JD Wetherspoon operates around 1,000 pubs across the country and has become famous for its cheap beer, lager and food.

Unfortunately, it seems that while you can save a few pounds on the drinks bill, you may not be able to top up your phone so cheaply…
