“Ted Lasso” hopes for green light for season 4

“Ted Lasso” is about to have a fourth season. diversity has confirmed.

Warner Bros. Television has optioned original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift. Jason Sudeikis is believed to be involved in the reboot in some capacity as an executive producer. Warner Bros. TV declined to comment.

Waddingham, Goldstein and Swift are currently known because they are members of UK Equity and have different contracts than the US SAG-AFTRA lineup. Those negotiations will take place next.

Rumors of a revival of “Ted Lasso” have been in the air since the end of the series. Back in January, Channing Dungey, CEO of Warner Bros. TV, pointed out that diversity the possibility that the series will continue after the third season finale, which aired last year.

“I mean, you saw the finale, there’s a little door that could be opened up again if necessary,” Dungey said. “I wouldn’t put a full stop on the end of that sentence. ‘Ted Lasso’ is still very popular. And I think Apple still has a lot of enthusiasm for ‘Ted Lasso.’ If the opportunity arises, we’d be happy to do more again… There are always conversations going on, but nothing is official.”

“Ted Lasso” follows Sudeikis in the title role, a small-time college football coach from Kansas who is hired to coach a professional football team in England despite having no football coaching experience. The film also stars Waddingham, Goldstein, Swift, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple and Phil Dunster.

The series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Hunt and Joe Kelly and is based on the existing format and characters of NBC Sports.
