Detransitioners sue taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood was once considered a “women’s health organization.”

But women are out – now the debate is about what a woman actually Is no longer – and something completely different is in.

Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization generally associated with abortion on demand, has recently engaged in a different game: luring people with the idea that they can change their gender.

The number of people, especially young women, being ‘treated’ and medicated in the PP for gender identity disorder because they falsely believe that a girl can become a boy and vice versa has skyrocketed.

With the increase in numbers came the inevitable trauma.

A disturbing report in the Free Press on Thursday identified Cristina Hineman as the first detransitionist to sue Planned Parenthood for medical malpractice.

She had just turned 18 when Planned Parenthood prescribed her a hormone cocktail.

Like many other young women who believe they can develop into men, Hineman suffers from autism, according to the report – and “struggled with a range of mental health issues: self-harm, depression and anxiety.”

A second woman, identified in the story as Anna, has filed a separate lawsuit against PP after she was given hormone pills at age 19 without being told about the many potential painful side effects. She is seeking $50,000 in damages.

It’s not just young adults: The Free Press cites insurance claims data showing that about 12,000 youth under the age of 17 received gender-affirming care at PP clinics between 2017 and 2023.

Meanwhile, more and more Americans are rightly turning their attention to the disturbing trend of children being given hormones or undergoing surgical procedures in a futile attempt to change their gender.

Parents’ rights groups are fighting on behalf of mothers and fathers who have been left in the dark about the mental health of their own children.

Alliance Defending Freedom, for example, is involved in seven ongoing cases in which parents are suing school districts that secretly sent their children to school behind their backs.

But unhappy or depressed 18-year-olds who are not allowed to drink alcohol, place bets in most casinos or rent a car, Also should not be given life-destroying medication when they are feeling unwell.

While many parents in Hollywood are only too happy to experiment with their gender-confused children, most of us realize that these kids are essentially going through a phase – much like when they wanted to be Batman as toddlers.

This is exactly what a groundbreaking 15-year study from the Netherlands found in April: the feeling of “dissatisfaction with one’s own gender” decreases with age.

At the age of 17, Hineman decided to undergo gender reassignment surgery, but her parents were against it and she had to wait until she was of legal age.

A troubled 18-year-old is not capable of making life-changing decisions. That should be clear.

Lawsuits against detransitioners are on the rise across the country. It turns out that many people feel they have been lied to and forced into harmful and irreversible changes to their bodies.

Hineman had her breasts removed after receiving what she described as a “superficial consultation” – a disturbing example of how the profoundly abnormal has become normal in our health care system.

How can we just accept that healthy breasts can be removed without causing trauma? That doesn’t make sense.

The bigger question, however, is: Why do we taxpayers support these practices?

Planned Parenthood receives $670 million in federal subsidies annually, and its most recent annual report claims that 41 Planned Parenthood affiliates provide “sex-affirming hormone therapy.”

Why are taxpayers’ money being spent on this bizarre form of medicine that exploits defenseless people in their time of need?

It is one thing to look away – and quite another to finance it.

Other countries must face the reality that gender reassignment surgery is wrong and that promoting the concept causes more problems than it solves.

On Wednesday, Britain’s National Health Service launched a new program for people undergoing gender reassignment surgery – because so many of them need special care after failed attempts to change their birth sex.

The UK, Denmark, Sweden and other European countries have restricted hormone treatments for minors after recognising the harm involved.

And yet the USA is still moving at full steam.

Planned Parenthood has always stressed that federal funds are not used directly for abortions performed in its clinics.

But money is fungible: by supporting the organization, these $670 million indirectly subsidize all of PP’s services.

Now the organization is using our tax money to support highly controversial gender reassignment surgeries.

Why should we pay for it? Defunding Planned Parenthood is a simple decision – and politicians should be bolder when making that decision.
