CGG launches two new 3D reimaging projects near Ivory Coast’s world-class discoveries

CGG, in collaboration with the Direction Générale des Hydrocarbures (DGH) of Côte d’Ivoire and PETROCI Holding (PETROCI), has announced two new multi-client 3D reimaging programs: CDI24 Phase I (3,120 km2) and Phase II (6,610 km2). Both projects are supported by industry. Phase I will start immediately and Phase II is planned for the first half of 2025.

These new programs will be merged with the newly mapped CDI23 (6,430 km2) data (originally marketed as PDSM 2023/2024) to create a seamless and contiguous total of over 16,000 km2, overlapping with the recently announced Calao discovery and adjacent to the world-class Baleine field.

Drawing on over 90 years of geoscience experience, CGG leverages its latest proprietary imaging technologies and highly specialized high performance computing to obtain the best possible results from conventional 3D seismic to support exploration offshore Ivory Coast. These cutting-edge tools, including time-lag FWI, Q-FWI, Q-Kirchhoff and advanced deghosting and demultiple techniques, aim to produce clearer images of the deep structural plays not visible in the conventional data, as well as image the fairways of the Calao-Cenomanian and Baleine carbonate in unmatched resolution, enabling a new understanding of the opportunities in the region.

Dechun Lin, EVP, Earth Data, CGG, said: “CGG is supporting the energy industry by leveraging innovative imaging technology to unlock new value from existing seismic data in the region. These high-quality reimaged datasets will provide a comprehensive and highly accurate view of Côte d’Ivoire’s potential, enabling the industry to de-risk future exploration and safely develop new energy reserves.”
