‘He’s still talking’: Host jokes after Fox News interrupts Trump’s confused phone call

Fox News hosts on Thursday interrupted former President Donald Trump’s tirade after he called the network following Vice President Kamala Harris’ speech at the Democratic National Convention.

The GOP candidate immediately called the station after Harris’ acceptance speech, and a ten-minute, one-sided conversation with moderators Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum ensued.

While Baier and MacCallum barely managed to think of a word, Trump continued to talk about immigrants “from prisons and detention centers, from mental institutions and insane asylums,” about his success in the polls against Harris among people of color, voters or simply women who “want security,” and about the auto workers in Michigan who support him.

MacCallum noted Harris’ rise among voters of color. “She’s having some success with that right now. What are you going to do – what’s your strategy to rebuild the momentum you had with those voters?” she asked.

“No, she’s not succeeding. I’m succeeding. I’m succeeding with Hispanic voters. I’m succeeding with black men. I’m succeeding with women, because women want security,” Trump replied.

“No, that’s just in your eyes, Martha,” he added. “We’re doing very well in the polls.”

Towards the end of their phone show, the former president responded to Baier’s question about whether he had received the endorsement of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. with high praise for the independent candidate.

Trump claimed he was unsure whether he had received the endorsement, but said Kennedy “was treated very unfairly by the Democrats. In a Democratic primary, he would have beaten Joe Biden.”

Baier and MacCallum eventually interrupted the conversation and moved it to a live edition of “Gutfeld!”

“We are pleased about the live feedback,” said Baier.

“It wasn’t my fault, Donald Trump!” said moderator Greg Gutfeld. “He’s still talking, by the way,” he joked.

Shortly thereafter, the former president switched on to speak on the phone with Newsmax, an alternative right-wing network, and continued his monologue.
