Discover Atrium82™: A versatile venue that transforms fitness and weddings

Tucked away on the second floor of a Park Slope is this uniquely designed miniature wedding venue and event space for wellness companies and private gatherings.

Tucked away in a two-story brownstone in Park Slope lies Atrium82, a uniquely designed black woman-owned venue that serves as a micro wedding and event space for wellness businesses and intimate gatherings.

Atrium82, owned and operated by Nundiah-Danielle Edwards, opened in 2020 after her gym, The New Body Project, which was previously located in the same premises, closed.

After COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, Edwards saw an opportunity to expand beyond fitness offerings and transform the space into a gathering place at a time when people were yearning to socialize again. Atrium82 quickly evolved from a place to host baby showers for clients to a premier micro-wedding venue, accommodating wedding parties of up to 30 guests.

“They (guests) always say, ‘I always walk past it and never knew it was that,'” Edwards said. “When they walk in, their jaws drop – they are completely blown away by the beauty, how well it is maintained and how seamlessly it transforms.”

Edwards hosts wedding parties primarily on weekends and offers a variety of wedding-style dinners and ceremonies. Clients can book a tour to explore the space and get recommendations for local wedding vendors who specialize in catering and decor. Edwards, who is also an ordained minister, often presides over the ceremonies that take place at her venue.

Atrium82 was built with the support of her community and serves as a hub for small businesses. Edwards attributes her success to the much-needed support she received from friends, family, and even strangers after losing her job in finance, which ultimately led to the creation of the New Body Project and, eventually, Atrium82.

During the week, Atrium82 hosts fitness classes. The space is rented to local businesses with whom Edwards has built close relationships over time. One of those partners is Kimberly Higgins, co-owner of Kimbritive, a sexual wellness and reproductive health center for Black women.

Higgins frequently uses Atrium82 for her quarterly community health education event, “Paps on Taps.”

“When we decided to do in-person events, we really wanted to find a venue in Brooklyn that was owned by a Black woman,” Higgins told BK Reader. “We also wanted to be somewhere that was knowledgeable about wellness or already had a wellness staple in the community. When I came across Atrium82, which is a beautiful space in its own right, I felt like it fit exactly what we wanted, which was to create a place that felt like home for people.”

Higgins added that one of her favorite aspects of working at Atrium82 is the creative freedom it offers when designing her workshops. For her events, she works with a production company to bring her vision to life, a service available to all guests using the space.

Atrium82 offers convenient support for any wellness business or wedding hosted in its space and continues to serve as a versatile and welcoming environment for the Park Slope community.
