Rupert Everett confirms he married his long-term partner Henrique this year

Rupert Everett is officially the ideal husband in real life!

In his new Tatler In a cover interview, the actor spoke about his wedding to Henrique, a Brazilian accountant, earlier this summer. Everett, 65, told the British magazine that he had been dating his new husband for a while, although the Golden Globe nominee wasn’t always sure he wanted to get married.

“I’ve always hated weddings, although I love funerals. But as you get older… I’ve seen so many problems that gay couples face, so it’s really more about thinking ahead, as we’ve been together for a long time now,” said the My best friend’s wedding Star told the outlet.

He added: “And I don’t know how long I can last. Well, I’m tall and I’ve never seen a 95-year-old person who’s 6’5″. You just never know what’s going to happen.”

In an interview with the British publication The timeshe expressed his aversion to marriage, but walked it back in the context of his current relationship. At the time, he told the outlet that he “wouldn’t mind getting married right now.”

“I would marry my boyfriend. However, I would only invite two or three people to my wedding,” Everett explained in the interview nearly four years ago. He also claimed that when the time came, he would be the one to propose to Henrique, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight.
