Check out the segment above As Colin says, the NBA’s affectionate term “Villanova Guy” can now be a comparable antonym to the NFL’s derogatory version, “Belichick Guy,” for an “obnoxious, belligerent, authoritarian and uncooperative” coach who invades the locker room.

Colin Cowherd: “We use a term in the NBA called ‘Villanova Guys.’ It describes Jay Wright and the Villanova program very well. It means not too self-centered, hardworking, tireless, coachable, no baggage, loves the game, is a great guy to have in the locker room. Everyone in the NBA wants a ‘Villanova Guy.’ That says more than just about the player, it’s the culture he comes from. With Belichick looking for a job next year, and I don’t think this job as a sportscaster is what he ever dreamed of, there’s a new term in football called ‘Belichick Guys.’ They’re all argumentative. They’re obnoxious. Flores, Matt Patricia, Joe Judge, Josh McDaniels, Bill O’Brien … Brady and Brian Hoyer always called O’Brien ‘Teapot’ because he was always boiling over in meetings. This Brian Flores thing is beyond obnoxious; it’s cruel. It’s essentially the opposite of the Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan pedigree. DeMeco Ryans, Robert Saleh, Kevin O’Connell… They step up and they’re cooperative, they get along with people, they’re professional players… Flores probably watched Belichick curse Brady for years. Even people who were positive about Belichick have spoken up and said, “I can’t believe what Tom has put up with.”

Sorry, you Belichick fanboys and sycophants, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that Tom Brady, and ONLY Tom Brady, has taken Belichick and the entire team to a higher level. Josh McDaniels couldn’t get along with Derek Carr and Jay Cutler. Matt Patricia couldn’t get along with Matt Stafford, and Stafford gets along with everyone. Brian Flores has been called a “terrible person.” I don’t think Tua is the best quarterback in the league, but he’s a nice guy. Everyone I talk to really likes him and he works really hard.

‘Villanova guy’ is a great term, ‘Belichick guy’ is toxic. Belichick’s 11 years in the NFL without Tom Brady as a starter: one playoff win. And he’s the ‘best’ of the Belichick guys. There’s a term now (‘Belichick guy’) and we think ‘uh, obnoxious, uncooperative, authoritarian – uh, no thanks.’ Bill got an interview and this Tua story is largely on him. The society you move in says a lot. The group and the culture you belong to says a lot. Be very careful with that.”
