Man searches for dog that went missing near Winn-Dixie on SR-84 in Davie – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

DAVIE, FLA. (WSVN) – A South Florida man is asking the public for help in finding his dog who went missing from a Winn-Dixie near State Road 84 in Davie more than a month ago.

Edgardo Feliciano has had his dog “Chico” for about ten years, but unfortunately Chico has been missing since July 3rd after he took him with him while shopping.

“He’s old, you know,” Feliciano said tearfully.

It’s possible that he forgot Chico in the shopping basket when he loaded his groceries onto his scooter. However, Feliciano says that Chico usually jumps on the scooter when he unloads his cart, which makes him suspicious.

“I can leave the dog right here. I say stay here and I can go to Winn-Dixie. When I come back, my dog will be here. Unless someone takes him,” Feliciano said.

“I thought my dog was here, and as I approached my house, I said, ‘Where’s my dog?'” he said.

When Feliciano realized that Chico was not with him, he returned to the store a few minutes later, only to find that his worst nightmare had come true – Chico was gone.

Since then, he has returned to the Winn-Dixie nearly every day with a poster in hopes that someone will recognize Chico. He even uploaded a photo of the missing dog to Facebook and a neighbor’s app.

“A lot of people say, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll find your dog,'” he said.

Someone responded to the post saying the dog was found and taken to a nearby veterinarian’s office to be checked for a chip, but Chico was not chipped and Feliciano was unable to locate his whereabouts.

A microchip is another form of pet identification and serves a similar purpose to a collar and can help increase the chances of pets being returned to their owners.

Feliciano went to the vet, explained his dilemma, and obtained surveillance photos of the people who brought Chico for the visit.

“They want to know if the dog has a chip. Why?” he asked. “People know, they know he has my dog. Bring him back to me. I have no money. But I can give you something.”

As the saying goes, a dog is man’s best friend. And in this case, Feliciano is heartbroken and desperately wishes to be reunited with his best friend.

“I don’t want to take this to court. I don’t want to do anything. I just want my dog back,” he said tearfully.

Anyone who has information about Chico’s whereabouts or recognizes the people who may have him is asked to contact Edgardo Feliciano at 954-882-6281
