Austin Coffee Truck Desnudo opens in downtown Austin

Austin-based mega-mega-popular micro-roastery and coffee truck Desnudo Coffee is expanding with a second location this summer. The new trailer will be located in downtown Austin outside the street food restaurant Y Comida at Ellis at 111 Congress Avenue in the Fareground food hall starting Thursday, August 22.

In the new trailer, you can expect Desnudo’s thoughtful espresso, espresso drinks and killer lattes. The latter feature the signature brown sugar miso, as well as shoyu butterscotch and white vanilla miso. There are also usually more seasonal weekend lattes like the Boggy Berry or the Lili Peach.

Co-owners and brothers Sergio Trujillo and Juan Trujillo founded Desnudo in 2021, where they work directly with micro-lot coffee farms in Colombia, focusing on education and sustainable practices in the production of packaged coffee beans. The name reflects that philosophy – Spanish for “naked.” The brothers wrote via email, “It represents the constant search for the best products in their pure, naked form,” which applies to both the actual ingredients and the farmers and families who grow it all.

The Trujillos opened Desnudos coffee truck in April 2022 on the same East Austin property as Veracruz All Natural. The truck’s drink creations have become so popular that there are often lines on weekends.

Desnudo’s downtown truck is slated as a temporary location for now. It will run through the end of December, as will Fareground’s other new temporary restaurant, Ellis’s restaurant Y Comida (which opens Friday, August 23). The brothers write that they are “testing” the location, and if the trailer works for them and Fareground and everyone is “happy at the end of the year, we may renew the lease.”

Desnudo’s opening hours in the city centre are Thursdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
