One great thing about Amarillo is the wide variety of coffee, shops and restaurants in town. One of the not so great things about Amarillo is the drivers. Amarillo has some of the worst drivers.

When you combine restaurants and bad drivers, you get incidents like the recent one at Rib Crib.

A truck drove through the Rib Crib building. It’s possible they were upset that the Rib Crib doesn’t have a car counter. In truth, it was a strange and odd accident.

What happened?

An official source told us that some kind of chemical was released inside the truck, possibly CO2. The man inside the truck was sleeping, and when a passerby opened the door to check on him, he was startled. The truck had apparently been put in gear, he hit the gas and drove into the Rib Crib building.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened in Amarillo. Remember when a car drove into an office building on Wolflin Avenue?

Accidents happen, and these things happen more often than you think. If you plan on parking in front of a building with the engine running, make sure you always, always, always put the car in park mode. Most people leave the car on because of the air conditioning or heater. Always double check what gear you’re in before you hit the gas. If you follow just these two simple tips, you may be able to avoid careening into a building.
