Dennis Quaid criticizes Facebook for banning advertising for his new Reagan film

Actor Dennis Quaid told podcaster Joe Rogan that his new film, Reagan, was targeted by Meta’s subsidiary Facebook.

“We are censored by Facebook. Facebook has banned advertising and many podcasts,” he told Rogan.

“Really? Just because it’s a positive movie about (former President Ronald) Reagan? Is that the idea? Is that what bothers you?” Rogan replied.

“The reason for that was that the content was ‘an attempt to influence an election,'” he explained, adding, “I mean, the last time I heard Reagan was on the ballot was 40 years ago.”

Rogan then asked: “Do you think a positive Obama film would influence the election?”

“Well, there was an Obama movie that came out in the election year of 2020. And you don’t know anything about it. To me, that’s just an act of banning or censoring that material to influence an election,” said the Reagan said Stern.

“They said it was a ‘mistake,'” Quaid told Rogan about the social network’s restriction of advertising for the film on its platform. “They said it was their automated systems that detected it.”

Rogan replied, “Oh, how convenient.”

The film, a biopic of the late former Republican president starring Quaid, Penelope Ann Miller and Jon Voight, is scheduled to be released on August 30.
