Disturbing footage shows a man brutally beating a woman near a subway platform – NBC Los Angeles

A man seen on video brutally attacking a woman and then throwing her onto the tracks of a subway platform in Pasadena has been arrested, police said.

The disturbing attack occurred on the morning of August 7, when a man attacked a woman at the Allen Metro station in Pasadena. Video shows the man throwing her onto the tracks and then pushing her over the Metro track barrier onto the 210 Freeway. He then dragged her into oncoming traffic, narrowly missing speeding motorists.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the attack was unprovoked. According to the department, the woman did not know the attacker, who was identified as 33-year-old Juan Pablo Flores.

Flores is now facing charges of attempted murder and assault. He is being held without bail.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a nearby hospital for her injuries. She suffered a broken nose, head bruises, swelling and cuts all over her body. She is still recovering from the attack and has difficulty walking, according to the LASD.

“Metro wishes the woman a speedy and full recovery,” the agency said in a statement.

Janice Hahn, Los Angeles County Councilwoman and Chair of the Metro Board of Directors, issued the following statement following the violence:

“The details of the attack on a woman earlier today at Allen Station in Pasadena are disturbing and I am grateful that the victim is recovering and the suspect is in custody,” she said in her statement. “Our board will require a comprehensive investigation of this incident, an accounting of where Metro’s contracted police officers and transit security officers were located when this woman was attacked, and a plan to increase security during morning commuter hours.”

The horrifying attack came a few months after Metro board members decided to set up a dedicated police force for the metro to increase passenger safety. Despite this measure, the attack has left passengers feeling unsettled.

“It’s devastating and really scary,” said Ducien Allen, a Metro rider.

“So is there someone not monitoring the cameras? Where is the office? Where is all this? There are a lot of questions that need to be answered,” she said.

“Actually seeing this is much more stressful now,” said Jeremy Gonzalez, another Metro passenger.
