MOORHEAD – Officers searching for a missing person in Moorhead found the body of a woman on the banks of the Red River early Tuesday, Aug. 20.

A Moorhead police press release said officers were dispatched to a missing person report shortly after 12:30 a.m.

“During a search of the area where the individual may have been located, her body was discovered along the Red River,” the press release said.

Police said no suspects had been arrested and the investigation was still ongoing as of Tuesday morning. Evidence was being collected and witnesses were being interviewed. The body will be taken to the Ramsey County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy, the press release said.

The crime scene was in the area of ​​Elm Street and Sixth Avenue South.

The Moorhead Police Department is investigating the case with assistance from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Fargo Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Metro Street Crimes Unit.
