Miami-Dade man repeatedly went to Goodwill to film women getting dressed, cops say

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – A 25-year-old man was observed three times filming women changing in the dressing rooms of a west Miami-Dade thrift store, police said, leading to his arrest Monday.

According to Miami-Dade police, the incidents occurred at the Goodwill Superstore at 9760 SW Eighth St., about a mile east of Florida International University.

Police said Diego Jose Rosales Morillo first recorded a woman on August 22, 2023. A police report states that the victim noticed his cell phone when she looked in the mirror.

The report states the woman immediately got dressed and confronted Rosales Morillo, who “apologized” and said he “deleted” the video. He left the store before the woman could notify staff or police, according to police.

On July 9, according to police, the store manager recognized Rosales Morillo from the previous incident, followed him throughout the store and discovered him “reaching over the partition between the dressing rooms while holding a phone in the same manner and recording a video of a female victim.”

The third incident occurred on Aug. 12, police said. Rosales Morillo is accused of doing the exact same thing he did in the other two incidents, all of which police say were captured by the store’s security cameras.

Authorities said they tracked Rosales Morillo down near his home in the Tamiami neighborhood in west Miami-Dade. He admitted to being at the store on those days but denied filming anyone and claimed he was only taking “selfie photos.”

Police arrested the Venezuelan national on three counts of video voyeurism. He was released from prison on bail on Tuesday, according to court documents.
