PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two women on a Honda dirt bike were injured in a crash in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia Monday night, police said.

According to police, the accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the corner of Kensington and Castor Avenue under SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Line.

According to police, the two women were riding a Honda dirt bike without license plates, lights or turn signals and were driving south on Kensington Avenue toward Castor. A man driving a Ford SUV north on Kensington Avenue turned left onto Castor and collided with the two women, police said.

According to police, both women were thrown from the dirt bike in the accident.

A woman in her early 20s was unresponsive and had injuries to her head and neck. Her condition was extremely critical.

The other woman, a 22-year-old, suffered injuries to her upper body and hip. Her condition was listed as critical, but she is expected to survive, according to authorities.

According to police, the driver of the Ford remained on scene and is cooperating with police. Both the Ford and the dirt bike were damaged in the accident.

At the time of the accident, another dark-colored SUV may have passed through the intersection of Kensington and Castor Avenue, but police do not believe that vehicle was involved in the incident.

Editor’s note: In an earlier version of this story, police said the crash was a hit-and-run. But authorities now say the driver is still at the scene.
