3-sport athlete Lauren Arledge will swim for St. Thomas University (FL) starting in fall 2024

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is a proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment updates. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that they pursue with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who have supported them along the way.

Lauren Arledge, a former student of Central Ohio Aquatics, will travel to Miami Gardens to swim for St. Thomas University (FL). Arledge, a native of Ashville, Ohio, is a recent graduate of Teays Valley High School.

Arledge is a multi-sport athlete. She also competed in track and field and played tennis during high school. In the fall of her junior year, she was named to the Buckeye Division first team for girls tennis.

I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at St. Thomas University! I want to thank all of my current and former coaches and teammates, and a special thank you to my mom and sister for shaping me into the woman and swimmer I am today. Go Bobcats

At the Upper Arlington Sectionals in February, Arledge set two personal bests as she led the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, swimming the 50 freestyle in 26.33 and the 100 freestyle in 57.45, respectively. She set her season best in the 100 butterfly, finishing 8th with a time of 1:01.09.

Most recently, Arledge posted personal bests in the 50 freestyle (30.04) and 50 backstroke (35.82) at the Ohio LC Senior Champs. She also swam three season bests, posting times of 1:06.60 in the 100 freestyle, 32.36 in the 50 butterfly and 1:11.68 in the 100 butterfly.

Best times SCY

  • 100m butterfly –1:00.55
  • 200m butterfly – 2:17.35
  • 50 free – 26.33
  • 100 free – 57,45
  • 200 m freestyle – 2:05.48

St. Thomas, an NAIA school, is a member of the Sun Conference, where they finished second to Keiser University in the conference championships last year. Stella Warborn, then a freshman, led the team with 60 points and 3 individual wins. St. Thomas finished 2nd at the 2024 NAIA National Championships, again finishing behind Keiser University.

Arledge’s personal best in the 100 butterfly would have put her in the B final of this year’s Sun Conference Championships, while her 200 butterfly would have put her in the A final. Although Arledge didn’t finish a clear 3rd, her 200 freestyle put her just under the cut-off time of 2:04.31 that she needed to swim a second round.

Arledge will be joined this year at St. Thomas University by Katie Gorno (sprint freestyle), Josefina Berraud (backstroke/IM), Giovanna Castellan (sprint freestyle) and Maggie Auran (freestyle/IM).
