EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) – We have one more very hot day ahead of us before temperatures slowly start to drop back down across the region. A very familiar round of warm and muggy 21 degrees with mostly clear skies awaits us this morning. Expect a mix of sun and clouds today and very hot highs between 35 and 38 degrees, with heat index values/feels well over 40 degrees for some. A heat advisory remains in effect for East Texas today, so please be cautious of the heat and be extra cautious if you must spend any extended time outside. If you’re tired of hearing the same old weather story day after day, then we have good news! A cold front will slowly move southwest through ETX today and tomorrow, bringing some cooler and drier air to the region! Unfortunately, rain chances remain very low today and tomorrow, with most, if any, activity occurring in close proximity to the cold front. Rain or not, at least temperatures will drop to 35-40 degrees on Tuesday and stay at 35 degrees for the rest of the work week thanks to sustained easterly winds. By Friday, winds will be stronger from the east-southeast and will likely lead to a slow rise in humidity and possibly temperatures through next weekend. Stay cool today and look forward to the “cold” front! Every degree less counts!
