Celtic beat Glasgow City, Hearts take the lead

In a close game at the Excelsior Stadium, the breakthrough came midway through the second half when City’s Sam van Diemen brought down Maria McAneny.

Craig sent Lee Gibson into the wrong corner to give Celtic the lead and City could find no answer.

Hearts took the lead with a comfortable win at home to Edinburgh Spartans. Joely Andrews opened the scoring, Sade Adamolekun scored twice and Lizzie Waldie and Lauren Wade also scored.

Rangers striker Katie Wilkinson scored her seventh goal in two games with a hat-trick at Broadwood, while Chelsea Cornet scored Rangers’ other goal in a 4-0 win over Thistle.

There was anger on the visitors’ side because Courtney Stewart had to wait almost three hours for an ambulance after suffering an epileptic seizure following a blow to the head in the first half.

Aberdeen’s early season problems continued with another heavy defeat following last weekend’s 11-0 loss to Rangers.

Tegan Bowie, Kathleen McGovern and Eilidh Adams each scored a brace and new signing Stacey Papadopolous scored her first goal for hosts Hibs.

Montrose’s second-half comeback at K-Park was unsuccessful, with Motherwell leading 3-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Morgan Cross, Rachel Todd and Bailley Collins.

Louise Brown and Holly Daniel reduced the deficit in the second half, but the visitors were unable to equalise.
