TDOT continues lane closures on I-40 in Humphreys County due to ongoing paving work – Clarksville Online

Tennessee Department of Transportation – TDOTNashville, Tennessee: The most beautiful beaches – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will implement lane closures on Interstate 40 in Humphreys County to continue work on a bridge replacement project.

Dement Construction crews will be closing eastbound lanes on MM 140-141 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18th through 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21st. One lane will remain open. Signage will be posted and congestion warning vehicles will alert motorists of the impending congestion. It is important to note that paving work will also be taking place overnight on I-40 eastbound on MM 126 to the Tennessee River Bridge in Benton County (Region 4) which may also impact traffic in that area.

The work in Humphreys County is part of a nearly two-mile bridge replacement project from Exit 137 to Exit 143, where workers will replace two bridges: the Squeeze Bottom Lane bridge and the Buffalo River bridge. For more information, visit the project website (www.tn.gov/tdot/projects/region-3/interstate-40-bridges.html).

All work is weather dependent. Drivers are asked to slow down and allow extra time to travel through the area.

As always, drivers are reminded to slow down and make way when driving through a construction zone. The Move Over Law was passed in 2006. The penalty for violating the law in Tennessee is up to 30 days in jail and a fine of up to $500.

For up-to-date information on construction and traffic conditions, visit the TDOT SmartWay map (https://smartway.tn.gov). Travelers can also call 511 for travel information.
