Palantir CEO Alex Karp will “not apologize” for his military work

The data analytics company Palantir has come under fire and even protests for its collaboration with the military, police and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. However, co-founder and CEO Alex Karp has no interest in the “apology show”.

In an extensive profile in the New York Times, Karp told writer Maureen Dowd that the company has “a consistently pro-Western stance” and that its critics believe we should “appease Iran, Russia and China.”

“I will not apologize for defending the U.S. government at the border, defending the Special Forces, bringing people home,” he said. “I will not apologize for getting our products to Ukraine or Israel or many other places.”

Karp doesn’t give many interviews, so it’s interesting to hear him talk in such detail about everything from his political views (which he describes as “progressive but not woke”) to his friendship with Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel and his dating preferences.

However, he can only say a limited amount about Palantir’s work. When asked whether the company played a role in the search for Osama bin Laden, Karp dismissed the question: “If you have a reputation for always talking about what the Pope says when you meet with him, you will never meet the Pope again.”
