If this week’s joint practices are any indication, the Giants and Lions are ready for an exciting season-opening game on Thursday night.

During the first joint practice on Monday, several fights broke out involving star players such as Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Tempers flared again on Tuesday when Malik Nabers, the Giants’ first-round pick, was involved.

Thursday’s game, the first official warm-up game for the 2024 season, which is of great importance for both teams, will also be exciting.

The Lions have had a hugely successful year, winning the NFC North title and advancing to the NFC Championship Game, but that loss — the 17-point lead that evaporated — still stings and leaves Detroit hungry for more.

For New York, the hope is that 2024 will look more like 2022. Daniel Jones, who only played six games last season after tearing his ACL in November, is back at center and wants to confirm his $160 million contract extension.
